The 2025 Green Ghana Day theme is “Growing for a Greener Tomorrow.” As a continuation of the previous year’s focus, this subject highlights the national endeavor to restore damaged lands and enhance Ghana’s ecosystem through tree planting.
The Okere District Assembly, in collaboration with the Forestry Commission and local stakeholders, successfully observed this year’s Green Ghana Day with a district-wide tree planting exercise. The event aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, restoring degraded landscapes, and encouraging community participation in afforestation initiatives.
Led by the District Chief Executive and supported by Assembly Members, traditional authorities, students, and community volunteers, the exercise saw the planting of various tree species across public institutions, schools, road corridors, and designated community sites. Participants received education on the importance of tree planting in combating climate change, protecting water bodies, and preserving the district’s ecosystem.
The Okere District Assembly expresses appreciation to all partners and residents who contributed to the success of the programme. The Assembly remains committed to nurturing the planted seedlings and advancing environmental protection efforts to ensure a greener and more resilient Okere District.
This topic is used in the Green Ghana program, which has the backing of numerous government agencies, business organizations, and community members and intends to plant at least 10 million trees a year.
