The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) and the National Information Technology Authority (NITA) have introduced the smart workplace platform, which will be used by the local government service to digitize the operations of the OHLGS, the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), and the Municipal and Metropolitan District Assemblies (MMDAs). This is done in order to ensure that the local government service achieves its vision of being a world-class decentralization and client-oriented service. A smart workplace is a way to automate corporate procedures and collaborate on Internet communications. based on Office 365 from Microsoft
The Smart Workplace solution offers numerous advantages and more than 19 functions. Through interfaces with MDAs and MMDAs internal (in-house) systems, it offers employees a highly effective virtual work environment with a single point of access to all resources. These consist of: Workflow Automation, Microsoft Teams (video conferencing), Calendar, Enterprise Email, Document Management, Correspondence Management, Electronic Memos, Corporate News/Announcements, Task Management, Knowledge Management, and Enterprise Search.
“We will become more accustomed to using these digital tools with practice, but it is not easy to change our way of doing things. At this point, Smart WorkplaceTM will assist with the transition safely without compromising speed and efficiency,” Mrs. Owusu-Ekuful stated. She urged all government agencies to provide NITA with the assistance it needs to carry out the project successfully.
