ADUKROM HOSPITAL MARKS ONE YEAR OF SERVICE TO COMMUNITY

The Adukrom Hospital has celebrated its first anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its mission to expand access to quality healthcare and advance Universal Health Coverage and Primary Health Care in the area. The commemorative event, held on the hospital’s premises, brought together a cross-section of stakeholders, including health professionals, local authorities, traditional leaders, and residents of Adukrom and nearby communities. The gathering served as an opportunity to reflect on the hospital’s achievements, while also addressing challenges encountered during its first year of operation.

Among the dignitaries present were Nana Pampim Ako Tettebea II, Adukrom Mankradohemaa and Nida Osumanyaw Hemaa; Nana Akua Adobe Pempem Hemaa of Adukrom; and Nana Ama Adobea Asewde. Also in attendance were members of the hospital’s board of directors, nurses, doctors, the Member of Parliament, Hon Kenneth Daniel, the District Chief Executive, Hon. In his address, the Head Doctor expressed profound appreciation to the traditional leaders and key contributors who made the establishment of the hospital possible. He paid special tribute to Mr. Seth Kumi, who generously donated the land on which the facility now stands.

The Head Doctor also recounted his initial hesitation when he was asked to transfer from the Tetteh Quarshie Memorial Hospital to the newly established Adukrom Hospital. However, he noted that the move has proven worthwhile, given the hospital’s growing impact on the community.

In his submission, the Member of Parliament, Hon. Kenneth Daniel, gave a brief account of how the hospital was established, describing the acquisition of land as one of the most difficult hurdles. According to him, securing 10 acres of land equivalent to about 40 plots for the project was a major challenge for both the community and the district.

He explained that the breakthrough came after the Queen Mother suggested that Dr. Seth Kumi, known for his generosity, might be willing to assist. Upon approaching him, Dr. Kumi agreed to release the land for the project without requesting any payment, on the condition that it would be used to build a hospital to serve the entire community. The MP further revealed that Dr. Kumi personally bore the cost of transferring the land title and completing all related documentation to the assembly.
